July is National Ice Cream Month! Houston Celebrates with Tasty Frozen Treats!

Ice cream during a Houston summer is almost as essential as air conditioning.  As a special ode to this frozen treat, these local area restaurants are celebrating National Ice Cream Month throughout July and National Ice Cream Day on July 19 with special deals and unique sweets proven to beat the heat.

Indulge in one of America’s favorite desserts, the ice cream sundae, at Cloud 10 Creamery.  Chef Chris Leung will be paying homage to the scoop with a special National Ice Cream Month Sundae priced at $5.80 through July 31.  Grab a spoon and dive into ginaduja semifreddo and Nutella ice cream with marshmallow topped with potato chip crumbles, whipped cream and house-made peach sauce.

Radio Milano’s Executive Chef Jose Hernandez began his career as a pastry chef, and his delicate and decadent desserts never disappoint.  For National Ice Cream Month, the acclaimed toque showcases a Buttermilk Panna Cotta ($9) that reinforces the restaurant’s Italian flair with its combination of basil ice cream, almonds, strawberries and balsamic.  If chocolate is what you’re craving, opt for the Tartufo ($12), made with chocolate shortbread, pistachio semifreddo and cherries.

Yellow Rose Distilling celebrates National Ice Cream Month with their inaugural Spiked by the Scoop challenge on Thursday, July 23 from 6:30 – 9 pm.  The evening will showcase frozen treats - shakes, sundaes and sandwiches – with a decidedly adult twist.
