Edible Houston's BatTastic Cocktail - Scary Good!

Edible Houston mixed vodka, tequila and triple sec with a basil-chili infused sour mix to make BatTastic as a ‘cheers’ to the beneficial bat and its hard work as pollinator and pest controller.

Ingredients

SERVINGS: one tall glass cocktail
  • 2 parts vodka
  • 2 parts tequila
  • ½ part triple sec
  • 1½ parts basil-chili sour mix*
  • 1-2 drops Tabasco (or to taste)
  • 1 splash Saint Arnold rootbeer
  • Lemon wedge
Basil-Chili Sour Mix
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • Good handful torn basil leaves
  • 2-3 pieces chopped dried chili (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel

Preparation

Fill cocktail shaker with ice and pour in all alcohol, sour mix and Tabasco. Give a couple good shakes and strain into a tall glass filled with ice cubes. Top off with a splash of root beer. Garnish with a lemon wedge and serve immediately.

Basil-Chili Sour Mix

Makes about 2½ cups

Bring sugar and water to a boil. Add the basil, dried chili (to taste) and lemon peel and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes. Turn off heat and add lemon juice. Let infuse for up to 30 minutes. Strain and use as needed.
