A Sweet Shop in Sugar Land

Licensed psychotherapist, Hollywood-trained makeup artist and certified pastry chef Sarah Ali is making magic at Chamak, a uniquely delicious chocolate shop in Sugar Land in Highlands Square on Highway 6.

Sarah is of Pakistan/Indian descent but she spent 10 years of her childhood in South Korea, where she traveled extensively through South Asia and was heavily influenced by the region’s diverse cultures. Her international background is displayed both in her shop’s eclectic mix of Moroccan, Mogul and Indian design and in her original-flavored recipes.

Upon entering Chamak, you find custom-blended organic mineral cosmetics on one side of the store and a glass case housing an array of confections on the other side, including traditional Indian sweets like barfiand halwa.

Sarah’s chocolates feature the exotic flavors of her mother’s home cooking, which she credits for inspiring her love of the culinary arts. Her confections are handcrafted from high-quality chocolate sourced from multiple origins and paired with the spices of the far-flung lands from which she came, including cardamom, curry and ginger. Her ingredients are chosen not only for their flavor but also for their health benefits.

Sarah’s dream is to create a lifestyle brand that celebrates creativity, culture and handcrafted natural products. Her services also include setting up chocolate tasting tables for private events and teaching classes from the beginner to the professional level in her chocolate school. Sarah is bubbly and energetic with a lot to offer to the community. She is proud to support the Fort Bend Women’s Center through her work at the Girlfriends Giggle fundraiser.

Chamak is located at 3129 Hwy 6, Sugar Land, TX. Learn more at chamakchocolates.com.
